Laura Hirt

Hi everybody!
I'm Laura from Illustration!
From what I read in this blog, it seems everybody had a brilliant start for this year in industry!

As for me, it's been very interesting so far:
- From july to october, I was working in Amsterdam at G2K Designers. To be honest, it was a bit difficult at first as I was the only non-Dutch speaker but after a couple of weeks, I felt very comfortable in the studio and had the opportunity to work on great projects (visual identities, campaigns, design of an exhibition in Amsterdam public library, etc ). They offered me to publish a postcard I designed (I think I have enough postcards for the rest of my life now; no need to buy new ones) and also to join them for their annual studio trip. The destination this year was Paris where I had the chance to visit the very beautiful studio of Philippe Apeloig

Amsterdam was a fantastic place to live: I had my typical Dutch bike to go everywhere, LOTS LOTS of exhibitions, beautiful architecture (I recommend to visit the public library if you go to Amsterdam!)

I feel I learned so much about typography (as an Illustration student, I think it was not my forte before) thanks to my colleagues at G2K Mattijs Van Leeuwen and Menno Cruijsen

- After my stay in Amsterdam, I'm now back in my home town Grenoble in France. I have been learning by myself about Dreamweaver and Flash and I am currently redesigning my website (I'll post the link as soon as it is finished. Hopefully *very soon*).

I consider this beginning of year in industry to have been very challenging and fulfilling for me. My career goals are much clearer now (it used to be blurred for a long time!). For the next work placement (I hope to get 2 more of 3months each), I will apply to web / interactive design companies. We'll see how it goes!
